Chester F. Phillips

Chester F. Phillips has worked as a rancher, fire lookout, delivery driver, Montessori assistant teacher, rainwater harvester, research assistant, environmental conflict-resolution intern and freshman English instructor, among other things. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in collaborative conservation planning in the endangered San Pedro River watershed in southern Arizona. He is also revising a book-length narrative chronicling his flight from small-town East Texas and five years of homesteading in the wild Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona. His essay "Heroes and Consequences" was the runner-up in Creative Nonfiction's Anger & Revenge Essay Contest.
