Jewell Parker Rhodes

Jewell Parker Rhodes is the author of three novels, Voodoo Dreams, Magic City, and Douglass' Women, and of The African American Guide to Writing and Publishing Nonfiction. Her work has appeared in Ms. Magazine and other popular and literary publications, and has been anthologized in Children of the Night: Best Short Stories by Black Writers and Ancestral House: The Black Short Story in the Americas and Europe. Rhodes has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize and has won fellowships from Yaddo and the National Endowment for the Arts. She resides in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she is professor of creative writing and American literature at Arizona State University.
