Ronald Bassman

Ronald Bassman, diagnosed with schizophrenia in his early twenties, defied dire predictions to fully recover and become a licensed psychologist. He is the current chair of The Community Consortium, an organization that promotes the civil and human rights of people with psychiatric disabilities. A cofounder, with other ex-patients and allies, of the International Network Towards Alternatives for Recovery (INTAR), he has been an elected member of the American Psychological Association’s Expert Taskforce on Serious Mental Illness and has served two terms as president of the National Association for Rights Protection and Advocacy (NARPA).
