MOVE OVER POTTER... There's a new series in town: "The Best Creative Nonfiction," assembled by Creative Nonfiction's editors and published by W.W. Norton, and Volume 1 has finally arrived! This anthology includes innovative, intriguing pieces from across the writing stratosphere--no stone went unturned in our quest to find the most interesting creative nonfiction out there. Volume 1 showcases writing styles that range from "collage" to memoir to blog and everything in between. We are pleased to be sending this issue directly to our subscribers as Issue 32, and the book will also be available at bookstores. THE 5 R'S Readin', 'Ritin' and & you'll have to sign up for Lee's workshop to learn the other three essential R's for writing creative nonfiction. On September 29th in Oxford, Mississippi, Lee will teach an intensive, day-long course that defines the genre and presents all the basic elements of creative nonfiction, including structure, voice, tone, writing in scenes and using background information and descriptions. The course will also include a discussion of ethical issues inherent to nonfiction writing, as well as tips for marketing finished work. FOR A CAPITOL TIME... Lee is going to be a DC regular in a couple of weeks. On Tuesday, August 21st at noon he'll be featured on The Kojo Nnamdi Show on WAMU 88.5 FM American University Radio to talk about "Almost Human" and "The Best Creative Nonfiction." If you're not in the District, you can listen to it through Podcasts on the NPR website. The Kojo Nnamdi Show features two-hours of news, political issues and social trends of the day in a magazine program format. The show's website is www.wamu.org/programs/kn/index.php.
