Kathleen Alcala is the award-winning author of a short-story collection, Mrs. Vargas and the Dead Naturalist, and three novels set in 19th-century Mexico. She is a co-founder of The Raven Chronicles, a magazine of multi-cultural art, literature and the spoken word, and has been a writer in residence at Seattle University, Richard Hugo House and a visiting lecturer at the University of New Mexico.
