Natalia Rachel Singer

Natalia Rachel Singer is the Craig Professor of English at St. Lawrence University, where she was hired in 1990 to design and teach courses in creative nonfiction. Her essay, “Nonfiction in the First Person, Without Apology,” is a version of a talk she gave at St. Lawrence when she was applying for the job. Her fiction and nonfiction have been published in Harper's, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The American Scholar, Redbook, The Iowa Review, The North American Review, where she is a contributing editor, O: The Oprah Magazine, and elsewhere. She is author of Scraping by in the Big Eighties, a memoir; co-editor of Living North Country: Essays on Life and Landscapes in Northern New York, and she has just completed a novel set in France.
