Warren Goldstein

Dr. Warren Goldstein is professor of history and chair of the history department at the University of Hartford, where he was the 2006 recipient of the James E. and Frances W. Bent Award for Scholarly Creativity. He is the author of three books: Playing for Keeps: A History of Early Baseball (Cornell, 1998); A Brief History of American Sports (with Elliott Gorn) (Hill and Wang, 1993), and, most recently Sloane Coffin, Jr.: A Holy Impatience (Yale, 2004), the first biography of a leader of American Protestantism in the late half of the twentieth century. He has also written for many publications, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
