Writers Boot Camp at CNF
A 10-week, hybrid workshop with Bridgette Shade
Writers Boot Camp at CNF
Two of the biggest challenges writers face are keeping self-set deadlines and finding a group to keep them accountable and on track. We’ve designed a new 10-week boot camp that will help you on both fronts. This series of workshops combines our most popular online course with a weekly in-person workshop session at CNF on Thursday evenings.
NOTE: This course takes place online & onsite at our Pittsburgh location.
This hybrid course combines 10 weeks of online learning activities and writing prompts with 10 in-person workshop sessions. Online classroom opens April 15th, and in-person workshop sessions meet Thursdays, April 18th - June 27th from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.
In this boot camp, you will build a daily writing habit, explore different craft elements of creative nonfiction, learn editing skills, and engage in the real world with a small group of like-minded writers.
Daily online writing prompts will give you the motivation and inspiration to keep writing, and our onsite weekly workshop will hold you accountable not only to your group and the instructor, but also to yourself. In the workshop, you will receive audience feedback on your writing and you will also learn to become a more thoughtful reader and critic, gaining a vocabulary for what works well and what does not. Each writer will be workshopped twice, and in the final week you will meet with the instructor for an individual conference to discuss your writing goals and possible next steps toward publishing.
After 10 weeks, if you've followed every writing prompt, you'll have an essay of between 6,000 and 12,000 words, or at least thirty passages to use as starting points for future essays.
This workshop is designed for writers from all backgrounds. Terrified beginners welcome.
